Why we love this recipe
Do you love a good classic creamy dill dip? The kind that’s always hanging out on a veggie tray? Here’s our new secret: this 5 ingredient, 5 minute dill dip recipe! It’s so simple and flavor-packed, you’ll never buy store-bought again.
When Alex and I created this recipe, we couldn’t believe how much flavor it had! All you need to do is mix a handful of ingredients and chill. Our recipe uses Greek yogurt for a lighter, tangy flavor profile. This will be our go-to veggie dip from now on! (No offence, ranch dip.)
Ingredients for dill dip
This dill dip recipe is like a creamy ranch dip or veggie dip you’ll buy at the store. It has the vibe of dressings you’ll make with those ranch seasoning packets, but it tastes fresher and deliciously homemade! Here are the ingredients in this dill dip recipe:

- Greek yogurt: A classic dill dip recipe uses sour cream, but we like it with Greek yogurt for a lighter spin. Yogurt also adds a nice tangy flavor.
- Mayonnaise: Mayo adds richness and creaminess, as well as a savory flavor.
- Dried dill: Dried dill is a key seasoning in our pantry: it’s perfect for ranch dip or ranch dressing and other soups, stews, and savory recipes.
- Dried minced onion: This is a key ingredient: don’t omit it! This type of onion can be found in the spices aisle at the grocery. (It’s also a key ingredient in Everything Bagel seasoning.)
- Garlic powder: Garlic power and salt round out the savory flavors.
Can you use fresh dill?
This dill dip recipe uses only dried dill, which you might think wouldn’t have as much flavor as fresh dill. However, the dip recipe is extremely flavorful as is!
However, if you happen to have fresh dill on hand or love it (which we do), you can absolutely add fresh dill here. It’s just not required for the dill flavor, which makes it an easy recipe to whip up with pantry ingredients.

What to dip in dill dip
This dill dip is extremely versatile: it works with both vegetables, chips and crackers! Some dips work best with just one or the other, but we love how this one works with just about anything. Here are a few ideas for things to dip:
- Carrot sticks, bell pepper strips, or celery
- Cucumber or radishes
- Snap peas
- Blanched broccoli or blanched green beans
- Cherry tomatoes
- Crackers
- Pita chips
- Potato chips
- Pretzels
Storing leftovers
Dill dip holds up well in the refrigerator. Once you stir it together, it’s best to let the flavors meld for 30 minutes (this gives time for the dried onion flakes to soften). This dip stores for up to 1 week refrigerated; stir before serving.

We like this dill dip with Greek yogurt, which keeps this dip lighter and adds a tang to the flavor. Sour crema makes it very rich and creamy.
